Safety standards

More and more electronic systems are used in safety-critical areas where errors can have disastrous consequences. Therefore, a careful development is a must.

Developing safety-critical systems according to special demands set down in the so-called safety standards is mandatory. These safety standards call for a lot of tests. TPT covers most of the obligatory requirements of the safety standards.

TPT can be used and qualified for testing and verifying with regard to standards that regulate functional safety like
ISO 26262, IEC 61508, EN50128, and DO-178C.

TPT-Test according to ISO 26262

Concerning the automotive sector, the safety standard ISO 26262 demands a phase model for the development. This model has to respect safety-related and functional aspects. The standard also explicitly formulates requirements for the test phase.

TPT is a tool that supports testing and verification of safety-related software. According to the demands of ISO 26262, TPT can be used for software unit tests, software integration tests, verification of software safety requirements, and for item integration tests, thus TPT can be used in all test phases. Tests can be executed in test environments like MATLAB/Simulink, ASCET, C-code, but also on PiL, HiL, and even in vehicles.

TPT can handle required test methods like requirements-based testing, interface testing, fault injection tests,
threshold testing, back-to-back tests, testing equivalence classes, and coverage analysis.

TPT tool qualification

To use TPT for the development of safety-related systems, you generally need to qualify the testing tool
to show that it is reliable for the system to be tested.

The qualification of a testing tool must be done in conjunction to the specific development process and/or in a specific safety lifecycle. It the user only that can qualify the tool inside its project environment. A lot of such qualifications of TPT have been successfully run for several software integrity levels, from ASIL-A to ASIL-D.

For TPT, there exists a so-called “Qualification-Kit” that extremely simplifies
the tool qualification and reduces the effort noticeably for you.

Qualification-Kit

Our Qualification-Kit offers

  • comprehensive individual
    project support
  • a generic qualification of TPT that only has to be supplemented for the specific development process.
  • the validation of TPT.

Support

We assists you from the first analysis up to the final qualification, from the first conversation up to the completion of all necessary documents.

Validation of TPT

We qualify TPT according to the method called "validation". The validation is done manually and by using an extensive valdiation-suite.
